Series Description:

DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS, by John Wyndham, was offered to radio listeners
many times as multi-part series by the BBC. It was heard from 29
June, 1953 through 17 July, 1953, 2 October, 1957 through 6 November,
1957, 20 June, 1968 through 25 July, 1968 and 9 August, 1971 through
20 August, 1971. It is not known if any of these broadcasts are
rebroadcasts or even if the same scripts were used.

The most common version available is the 1968 version. This version
tells the science fiction classic in six 30-minute episodes. The
story, centered in England, tells of a world where the population
has suddenly gone blind and strange, mutant plants that threaten the
blind masses. Fortunately, there are some humans that can still see.

This is one of the BBC's best offerings. Having a solid story line,
it is well-acted and well-produced. If you enjoy science fiction,
this series will be a welcome addition to your collection.
